I am delighted to provide a brief report on our participation in the SkillUp African Expo and Conference held at the University of Nairobi in celebration of World Youth Skills Day. The event showcased numerous organizations dedicated to youth skills development. Here are a few examples:
- Kenya National Qualifications Authority (KNQA): KNQA coordinates and harmonizes education levels in Kenya. They develop policies, set standards, and maintain a qualifications database. Notably, KNQA has implemented a program that provides certificates to youths based on their skills. This initiative aims to recognize and validate the competencies acquired by young individuals, enhancing their employability. Website: [https://www.knqa.go.ke/]
- National Employment Authority (NEA): NEA focuses on addressing unemployment by identifying employment opportunities for Kenyans. They collaborate with public and private sectors and regulate private employment agencies. Website: [https://neaims.go.ke/]
- The Hilti Foundation: The Hilti Foundation empowers individuals and communities through programs in areas such as affordable housing, economic empowerment, and music for social change. Website: [https://www.swisscontact.org/en/countries/kenya]
These organizations, among many others, actively provide skills training, mentorship, and support to enhance the employability and economic independence of Kenyan youth.
We are grateful for the opportunity to participate in this event and witness the diverse efforts of these organizations.
